"WPA has been working with us for several years, including throughout the last two lockdowns. Our EWO has been instrumental in consistently challenging children’s poor attendance, engaging hard to reach parents and liaising with us to find creative ways to get persistent absentees back into school. She has been incredibly adaptable, working with a number of our own staff and other agencies to put support in place. She regularly has difficult conversations with parents, outlining expectations regarding attendance, while at the same time, taking account of exceptional circumstances. The WPA EWO has been a valuable asset to our attendance team and is an incredibly useful source of information. As a direct result of her work, we have a smaller number of persistent absentees and our attendance figures have increased. We are changing our attendance policy next year, following some of her recommendations, and we look forward to working with WPA in the future."
